Our Birth
During 2013 our Limited Company was formed as LJM Consulting Engineering; a sole director service provider of Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy.
The Company delivered design schemes for bearing replacement of several Highways England bridges and conducted structural assessments of various types of rail structures including complex non-linear finite element analysis based assessments.
One Year Later
Our design and assessment services expanded into providing Engineering support to Network Rail through conducting not only asset examinations but primarily undertaking STE2 engineering reviews of other examiners’ reports.
On the Right Track
In 2015 we began working closely with Network Rail Works Delivery to provide examinations via their Principal Contractors with a mission to provide an alternative where enabling works and planned examinations through separate contractors had failed.
Four years later
Company was renamed to Structural Asset Consulting Engineers Ltd (SACE) in preparation to become greater than a single person service provider. Director Liam Marshall was joined by a CAD technician, a Graduate Engineer and a STE4 examiner to begin this journey.
A vision for the business evolved; that was to create a modern environment for it’s workforce providing a Client focused service with a high standard of technical and quality engineering thereby building the Company reputation for success.
Asset Management
In recognition of our historic good service to Network Rail; we were offered to closer working relationship with their Asset Management team in York which brought further opportunities.
Richard Fisher was appointed as Partner to the Company gaining his vast experience of inspection and asset management in rail, waterways and local authority assets to further cement our success and support increased growth.
Since this appointment, SACE have gone from strength to strength delivering successful projects for our ever-expanding Client portfolio.
Deemed Competent
In 2019 we successfully audited to RISQS along with acruing ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 competencies. Gradually expanding; our team count stood at 16 during the COVID 19 pandemic (early 2020).
Our workforce included Chartered Engineers, Structural Examiners, Building Surveyors, Geomatic Surveyors, Project Managers and Engineering Technicians.
We are proud of our team, taking time to invest in our people not just our services, hiring apprentices who attend local Colleges and Universities alongside their role at SACE.
Foot in the Gutter, Reaching for Stars
This year we launched our Specialist Access department to cater for the ever increasing demand for Confined Space and Culvert examinations as well as the need for Rope Access for assessment at height.
Examining subterranean structures has become a core practice for the SACE examinations team utilising both man entry and CCTV solutions.
In addition we have invested time and efforts in producing a multi-disciplined rope access team within the department to reach work sites previously too costly or challenging for our Clients to examine.
